If you haven’t booked your Paris hotel yet, do it soon!

Paris Hotels are filling up quickly for September. Next week the fashion crowd will be at Porte de Versailles and hotels on the Left Bank are already completely booked in some areas. We were lucky to find a room next week for visitors at 70 Euros, but don’t expect to be able to do this so easily over the internet (even if you use some of the supposedly ‘best price’ companies). A hotel owner told us that at 70 Euros she’s not making much money but she’d rather have the room booked as opposed to empty. (on a weekend)

If you want to book a room, try for the weekends first – you’ll have better luck than during the week. If you don’t want to spend 200 Euros for a three star hotel, you’re more likely to get a better price directly from the hotel owner. So, if you’re willing to take the risk of waiting till you get to Paris to find a room, you’ll probably save some money (but only if you book a place for the weekend.) As a rule of thumb 75 to 90 euros would be a fair price for a very basic three star hotel on the left bank. (not including breakfast).
