B&Bs in Paris
What would it be like to stay at a Parisian apartment as opposed to a hotel? B&Bs in major cities aren’t as easy to track down as rural B&Bs and often their prices seem to me exorbitant than a some hotel chains like Kyriad, but if anyone can find you a B&B stay in Paris, The Petit Fute guidebook should be able to do it (especially if you can read a little French!). By Parisian standards, the rooms are reasonably priced – less than 100 Euros. What I liked about the Petit Fute descriptions – the host and hostess are described in almost as much detail as the rooms – which is a good idea when you’ll be staying in someone’s home. The B&Bs are organized according to arrondissement and if there is a great Paris view to be had i.e. chez Colette near Pere Lachaise cemetery, you get a picture of the view rather than the lodging itself. If you do opt for a B&B, keep in mind that water for showers and baths is used sparingly – don’t take long showers! If you return to your lodging late in the evening, you need to be quiet not only in the apartment but also in the apartment hallways.
