Valentine’s Day Dinner-The Day After

Lemmings. What is it about February 14th? If you are reading this after having come home from dinner at a jam-packed restaurant - the reservations had to be made in advance, of course, and you may be wondering to yourself, why February 14th - an undoubtedly Pagan ritual? (See previous entry).

So, if you were smart enough to figure out a good reason why NOT to go out for Valentine’s Day night, try out a nice intimate restaurant for the day AFTER St. Valentine’s Day. We have done this on a number of occasions (either the night before or the night after) and you may have the good luck to have a restaurant all to yourselves (as we did the night before St. Valentine’s Day).
If you happen to be in the Montparnasse area, here’s one restaurant that’s been in business for about seven years and has been consistantly good since the day they opened. It’s small, intimate, and friendly.

Tel. 01 43 27 23 34 (Menu ranges from 15 to 30 Euros) has received good reviews from French internet reviewers which simply confirms what we have always thought of this little gem of a restaurant tucked away from the rue de la Gaite street traffic on a dead end ‘impasse’. You need to reserve because there are only ten tables which fill up quickly. Plan on getting there before 8 pm if you haven’t reserved.
The cuisine has a whiff of the ’sud’. Reviewers agreed that the variety of the menu, the warm reception, pas de chichi. Meaning no putting on airs - makes this a restaurant you’ll want to return to - even if it isn’t Valentine’s Day.
