Finding a Parisian restaurant that’s open on Mondays can be a challenge - finding one that’s good, reasonably priced and is offering an intro to its wine list - and at half price - well that sounds too good to be true, but I have to take the word of Pascal at www.restoaparis.com and his crew.
Although I have yet to visit Villa Pereire in the 17th arrondissement, if you find yourself up in the northwestern corner of Paris, Monday, July 23th ‘07, this sounds like the ideal time to become acquainted with th Villa Pereire, 116 Blvd. Pereire, Metro: Pereire. After looking at the photos of the various plates - my red flag went up - oh, oh this looks a little too pricey for my budget - but then I was amazed to read that the Formula du Marche starts at 19.50 Euros, or 24.50 Euros if you take a starter plus the desert with the main course. So, where’s the catch?
Another good thing for jet lag victims, this restaurant opens at 8 am and STAYS open till 1 am. You can pop in for brunch, lunch, tea time or a late night meal. The only time that Villa Pereire isn’t open according to restoaparis is for the lunchtime meal on Saturdays. (although the 17th is diametrically opposed to my ‘hood’ the 14th, it sounds like it’s worth the trek.
You may have noticed this trend. More and more restaurants are bringing in live entertainment. So, much so that the restoaparis.com site, in addition to extensive restaurant reviewing includes an ‘agenda’ or calendar with daily listings of events at various restaurants. For example, I noticed that PDG ( my favorite hamburger joint - which thanks to restoaparis, I’ve learned has moved from its Champs Elysees neighborhood to Rue Dragon, St. Germain-des-Pres) is offering 70s music later this week.
