Museum Night in France: Saturday Night (May 19th 2007)

Once again, France’s museums (and also museums throughout the European Union) will be open for a free evening visit this Saturday night. 2000 museums throughout Europe will be open tonight (1200 French museums). 41 different countries are participating in the Museum Night. Museums take on a totally different aspect at night. Don’t miss this opportunity if you’re in Paris to visit one of your favorites. http://www.nuitdesmusees.culture.fr/
If you are in town this evening, here are some of the highlights noted in Aujourdhui newspaper:
Rodin Musuem will have a ‘psychedelic’ tour of its sculpture garden. You can see the original ‘Thinker’ sculpture inside the museum (not to be confused with the larger version found outside in the garden).
The Musee Rodin opens its doors at 7 pm and will be open tonight un til 1 am.

At the Louvre - ‘Big Screen’ Documentaries on art ad art history. Or just wander around the Louvre at night.
For film screenings: The Auditorium, Place du Carrousel.

Le Petit Palais
Come to admire the the Petit Palais’s beautifully painted ceilings - bring your ‘chaise lounge’ and listen to music in style.
M. Champs Elysees
7 pm to 11 pm.

Le Grand Orient de France. Learn about the temples and archives of freemasonry. Follow in teh footsteps of Voltaire, Chagall and Andre Citroen. 7 pm to 1 am.
