Just how much would you be willing to pay for a good cup of expresso? 1000 Euros? For the past year, French moviegoers have been treated to the humorous George Clooney ad for Nespresso coffee. It was filmed at a Nespresso cafe created just for the ad in Santa Monica, California.
Now, Nespresso has its very own boutique at 119 Champs Elysees. You may not bump into George Clooney here, but you can pick up a fine expresso coffee maker for a mere 999 Euros.
This Porsche designed coffee maker should make pretty good coffee for the price. And the truth is, the coffee is REALLY GOOD (but you don’t have to buy the most expensive model). Plenty of other stores throughout Paris sell Nespresso coffee makers including BHV, Printemps and Darty.
Recently we had lunch with Eric and Lila who treated us to a Nespresso cafe. The fun is choosing the type of espresso. Each person can choose the level of caffeine they prefer – and the type of coffee blend. Or you can choose decaffeinated as well. The espresso blends are presented in containers the size of coffee creamers in a variety of colors, listed by numeric strength from 1 to 10.
What I like about this system, it takes the guesswork out of dosage for inexperienced espresso makers (such as myself). That being said, I’m not going to run out and by the Porsche designed espresso maker, but I might pop over to the Nespresso boutique on the ‘Champs’ – just in case George is in town.
Speaking of product identification – if ever an actor and a product were meant for each other, the Nespresso-Clooney connection is brilliant. Some people have said here that the Clooney ad was not distributed in the U.S. at his agent’s request. If so, that’s too bad. It’s a great ad. See the full ad on Adpunch.
