Paris is being kinder and gentler to late night revelers in the past few years, particularly with the introduction of the late night bus service called Noctilien. Buses run from 12:30 pm to 5:30 am. You will recognize Noctilien bus route shelters by either the Noctilien icon or an ‘N’ posted in front of the bus number.
There are forty such bus routes and 2000 bus stops. The main Paris night routes tend to connect the centers of late-night activity such as the Champs Elysees, Bastille, St. Germain-des-Pres and Montparnasse. The major train stations are included in the circular routes #N1 and N2. There’s even a night bus that goes to and from Charles de Gaulle Airport #N121 through Montparnasse. Wouldn’t it be nice if these lines ran as often as daytime lines? They can range from 17 minutes to 60 minutes between buses. On a cold winter night in Paris, you’d probably want to call a taxi instead, but at least this is a step in the right direction. Between late night buses and the access to bicycle rentals, going out at night won’t require a friend with a car.
If you need to call Noctilien, their phone number is:
