Eurostar in 2007

This November, Eurostarwill have a new terminus in London, St. Pancras station rather than Waterloo station. Londonlogue.com
gives you details about the St. Pancras station and its surroundings.

The new high speed tracks should allow the Eurostar journey between Paris and London to take 2 hours 15 minutes. Eurostar leaves from the Gare du Nord station in Paris. You will be asked fill out a card similar to the arrival landing card you fill out before going through customs at the airport. This card is handed out before you actually board the Eurostar at Gare du Nord.

Although I haven’t taken the Eurostar recently, the last trip we took was seamless. The second class seating was comfortable and I wouldn’t see any reason to spend the extra money for first class. You can even bring along your dog.

For those who have been avoiding this trip because you’re traveling in a tunnel, keep in mind that the actual tunnel portion of the trip is only 23 miles. It takes about ten minutes to cross the channel and the rest of your trip is either above ground (or at least above water). If you’re planning on going before November, the Waterloo Station couldn’t be a better place to start a walking tour of the city.
