In “Famille Je Vous Haime,” Serge Hafez quotes the statistics:
The average time span for a marriage in Paris and its surrounding suburbs is three-and-a-half years.

Hafez who councils married couples cannot suppress his amazement when a seemingly well-adjusted couple admits that after after having a child and being together for a few years their flame of passion for one another has diminished - and, well, they both just want more! (Remember that Eighties hit? “It’s all an illusion.” Can’t say we didn’t tell you so!)

Which leads Hafez to some serious questioning - and just where does this ‘pursuit of happiness’ take us? Total narcissism? He wonders.
