Booking Flights to France

If you are planning on flying to France in spring or summer, it’s not too early to start booking your flights. Over the years, we have flown with many airlines and it’s hard to say whether any airline is better than another. Often the difference depends more upon the airports than the actual airline you choose. Recently we’ve been traveling through JFK or Dulles to make connections for Rochester, but we’ve also flown with US Air out of Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. My suggestion is to go with the airline that is offering you the best price. The quality of the flight is very similar between the large companies.

If you book with Air France, check about an upcoming strikes. Strikes often involve baggage handlers at the CDG airport. Although this can cause some inconveniences, particularly with slow arrival of your luggage, normally the flights themselves are unaffected. Strikes in France tend to occur in May and November.
