August in Paris: Camp out and Rock en Seine!

rockenseine1.jpg2-Day Festival Passes have just gone on sale this week (75 Euros). If you’re already in Paris, and you’re one of the first 500 to book through FNAC, you’ll get a free Rock en Seine t-shirt as well.

Now’s the time to book your campsite if you plan on attending Paris’s 6th Annual Rock en Seine music festival (2008). This year’s event kicks off with the August 20th performance - Rage Against the Machine (45 Euros). (Keep in mind that Rage Against the Machine is not included in your two-day pass which will only entrance for the performances on August 28-29th!)

August 28, August 29, 2008 Rock en Seine performers include:
Amy Winehouse
R.E.M.
Justice
The Roots
The Streets
Kaiser Chiefs
Serj Tankian

Note: the Domaine de St Cloud campsite opens specifically for the 2-Day Festival Event on August 28 and August 29, 2008.

Be sure to book your camping spots as soon as possible at the Rock en Seine website. The campsite offers toilet facilities and a snack bar, but you can’t bring in barbecue equipment, or even make camp fires. Pets are not allowed. If the Domaine de St. Cloud camping site sells out, a second option would be the camping facilities at Bois de Boulogne.

Camping at the Domaine national de Saint-Cloud

2 person placement 20 Euros
4 person placement 40 Euros
Camping area opens at 10 am Thrusday 28th until 12 noon on Saturday 30 August

Getting to Domaine National de Saint-Cloud

Getting to Domaine National de Saint Cloud is easy from central Paris. Just hop on the #10 Metro line and get off at Pont de Saint Cloud. It costs the same price as you would pay for any stop within the Paris city limits (one 1.50 Euro Metro ticket).
For those of you who may be driving, BE SURE TO REMEMBER that there’s a Pont de Saint Cloud and a
Porte de Saint Cloud, so don’t get them confused. The easiest way is taking the Metro.

Boulogne is a very pleasant western suburb of Paris and if you decide to camp out here in the Domain de St. Cloud, you will find it easy to run into Paris for visits during or after the festival. The entire Metro trip should take less than thirty minutes, depending on whether you change lines.

>>More Camping Information for the Bois de Boulogne
Bois de Boulogne has especially good rates for ‘pedestrian campers’ (11 Euros in low season and 16.50 Euros in high season) ! You can also use barbecue equipment at this site.
