Find non-touristy souvenirs at Monoprix. Monoprix is Paris’s inexpensive grocery/department store where you can find such items as reasonably priced lingerie, clothes for kids, dish towels and some houseware/kitchen products - without breaking the piggy bank. What you won’t find here are the kitschy souvenirs that are tailor-made for tourists.
If you want to go more upscale, try the main branch of Galeries Lafayette on Blvd. Haussmann for your ‘one-stop’ souvenir shopping.
If your hotel’s located in the Montparnasse district, there are a few small ’boutique’ souvenir shops such as ‘Maroquinerie’ at 49, Avenue du Maine (between Rue Vandamme and Rue du Maine) (very close to the huge Monoprix(formerly INNOs) Metro: Gaite where you’ll find the more ‘typical’ Paris souvenirs but also a good selection of luggage, well-crafted handbags and affordable jewelry, hair ornaments, etc.
