By Parisgirl | December 16th, 2006 | Add a Comment »

Like London, Paris is a city defined by its bridges. Building began on Pont Saint Michel in 1378. In those days the bridge was covered with townhouses for craftsmen including tanners and shoemakers. To get an idea of what the medieval Pont Saint Michel looked like, you’d have to go to Florence, [...]

Okay. Paris info.com is not answering the e-mail question regarding train service from the airport, so I’m glad that EASYCDG did! Still and all, www.parisinfo.com is still a good site to get up to date info on events, (like Bollywood show which will be at Palais de Congres until December 24th. It’s [...]

Don’t be shy!

Maybe you’ve enjoyed reading Paris Logue but have never bothered to post a comment. Maybe English isn’t your first language and you don’t want to make spelling errors (don’t worry about that - you’ve noticed that I do on occasion). This is not the typical site where your comments go unnoticed. It [...]

Easy CDG

The nice people at CDG facile.com sent me their anglophone site. I checked out the site and found it to be useful for several reasons. CDG has two terminals T1 and T2. Very often tickets are issued without mentioning in which terminal you’ll be landing. This is a handy piece of information [...]

Thought for the Day: Being a Virtual Person and Honoring Ancestors

By Parisgirl | December 11th, 2006 | Add a Comment »

Part of the reason some of us end up living in Paris is fulfilling the wishes of our ancestors. Long after I had begun living in France, I learned from our mother that Grandma (the grandmother that I had never met – she died before I was born) had always dreamed of coming to [...]

Just checked out France 24 online to see how they’re hitting the deck. I thought a good place to start would be checking out their coverage of Segolene Royal, who if elected, would be France’s female president. Wow. The first thing I noticed is the site which emphasized for its grand opening [...]

Miraculous, Mystical Paris

By Parisgirl | December 8th, 2006 | 2 Comments »

If you’re checking out St. Sulpice after having read the Da Vinci Code, you’re in the same neighborhood as the Chapel of the Miraculous Medal, rue du Bac, Metro: Sevres Babylone. Visions seemed to be abound in France in the 19th century. You’ve probably already heard about St. Bernadette at Lourdes, but [...]

Puppy Love

Today’s Le Figaro newspaper reports that a woman was arrested in Marbache (Meurthe et Moselle) for housing 349 dogs in a 100 square meter room. She was sentenced to four months in prison. The dogs were well fed, but living in squalor.
My question is, what happens to the 349 dogs while this woman [...]
