When you’re stuck in an airplane for five hours on the tarmac – the reading material better be good. Kudos to Continental’s inflight magazine editor for picking Ellise Pierce’s story on jogging in the Bois de Boulogne. (My swollen ankles are just beginning to ‘degonfle’!).
Pierce describes for you her running route with all the handy landmarks. She couldn’t have chosen a more lovely route. Parisians like to join running clubs that meet at the Bois de Boulogne for Sunday jogs. I used to do this before we began spending warm weekends in Normandy.
The Bois is one of those parts of Paris which drastically changes its persona after dark. On Sundays, its a favorite spot for family outings. After dark, the Bois becomes the haunt of prostitutes, transvestites and ‘echangistes’ or couple swapping.
Rarely do the two worlds collide.
