Truck Strikes throughout France

Trucks and taxis have joined in the strike that began with the began as a fishermen’s strike. Hundreds of trucks and taxis converged today in front of the Total oil company’s offices at La Defense on the outskirts of Paris.

Strikes occurred throughout France. Truckers, taxi drivers, and agricultural workers are protesting the increase in oil prices. For visitors to France, this may mean delays caused by traffic jams are national routes that may be blocked by strikes.

Yesterday (Monday, June 2) both Paris’s peripherique or ring road and the A86 were affected by the strikes as well as th A14 toll road connecting Paris’s right bank and Neuilly suburbs with the A13 route to Normandy.
