Beaujolais Nouveau Party continues!

Tonight, you’ll want to head over to Cafe Odessa (no, not Cafe Odessa in Portland, Cafe Odessa in Montparnasse!).

I stopped in last night to try a glass of Beaujolais nouveau at the stroke of midnight. You couldn’t find a friendlier bar staff anywhere, and they clued me in that the party doesn’t really get rolling until tonight (November 15, 2007).

It was a surprise that not so many places in Montparnasse were breaking out the bottles with fanfare, but as the staff at the L’Opportun explained, ‘the party goes on for a few days’.

Cafe Odessa bartender tells me that L’Opportun are the real ‘burgundy’ specialists in the neighborhood, but I think I’ll head back to the Odessa all the same.

Rumor has it that other English-speaking people will be there tonight - and judging by the jovial staff - it should be a fun night. Be sure to ask the bartender to wind up the mouse mascotte with the huge ears. That’s worth a visit, with or without the beaujolais nouveau.

The Metro is running today in spite of the strike.
Let the party continue!
