Paris by Night - or is it Paris by Dawn? Nightllife in this city is perpetual.
If you missed Gotan Project in Caen in February, it’s not too late to catch their 8:30 pm concert this evening at the Grand Rex. Metro: Bonne Nouvelle.
The GoGoparis.com site explained something of which I was unaware when I mentioned Gotan Project to you an a past entry. Gotan is ‘verlaine’ or reverse for Tango. Which is what Gotan is all about. Even if you can’t get to their concert tonight, be sure and check out their video sequence at their website: www.gotanproject.com.
If you don’t feel like going out, pick …
About an hour from the time of this posting, Air Pocket Symphony will be performing at La Cigale, 120 Blvd. de Rochechouart, 18th. Metro: Pigalle.
The show is sold out, but a there’s always a chance of some extra last minute tickets. GogoParis.com does a good job of listing many of the upcoming music events in the City of Light.
Meanwhile, I’m a sucker for catchy websites and I couldn’t help but wander over to Air’s site for their new album ‘Pocket Sympathy’ and a chance to listen to a sample from ‘Left Bank’. The lyrics are …
Le Figaro newspaper’s, Charles Gautier reports today that the parking garage behemoth - Vinci Parc and Avis will join forces to provide short-term rentals (from a few hours to one day’s use) on a test basis this June in Paris. The Peugeot 1000 will be the rental car of choice.

Customers will be able to call and reserve a car on a 24 hour basis, then pick up and drop off their car in designated Vinci parking garages. The car-sharing …
Seems like there’s no end to the number of photos of Paris - is it the most photographed city in the world? Maybe. All I know is that when I stumbled onto Spirit of Paris, something clicked and it wasn’t a camera shutter.
One of my favorite photos from Michel’s site is Mysteries of the Louvre, what’s yours?
I will be writing more about the interesting author of this site - but first, go take a look for yourself and see if you agree with me that these photos are AWESOME (and I …
1. The Versailles Gardens at sunset. Rick Steves is absolutely right. There’s no time like the end of the day to appreciate the beauty of one of France’s most visited landmarks – the Chateau de Versailles and its gardens. Thanks to Lori Bertolini’s photo, we have this captured memory. My only advice for future trips is to make sure you’ve packed your extra recharged battery so that you don’t get caught with your digital camera flashing that no battery sign!

The jazz group - Perceptual - introduces their music as “an awakening of the senses - letting the music lead you into poetic, idle wanderings . . . ”
Do not try this at work! Like I did this morning, trying to prepare for a productive morning of blogging. I started off with Perceptual’s website - From Jazz, I segued over to some Citroen DS sites - and went idly wandering until early evening - cars are whooshing by outside and from some other apartment window, I hear soft strains -of, …
Parisian Flamenco Meets Polynesian island ‘whatever’
You don’t need to go to an palm tree infested island - all you need is the sound of guitar music to transport you - especially when it’s something as exotic as flamenco jazz.

Call me stupid but I find maps of bus lines to be the as unfathomable as hieroglyphics. That’s why I was delighted to see the RATP’s interactive map of their relatively new ‘Noctilien’ night bus service which operates from 12:30 to 5:00 am.
Mastering a city’s bus service is probably one of the smartest things to do if you plan on spending much time in the city. I will be honest – I tend to take the lazy way and hop in the Metro which has, over the years, become an old dependable friend.
If you’re a night owl, it might …
The Garnier Paris Opera House might not be the worst place to spend New Year’s Eve, but the question is - is it too late to get ticket to the New Year’s Eve concert? Even when tickets are sold out elsewhere, it never hurts to head over to the Opera House box office where occasional return tickets go on sale on the day of the event. Otherwise you can show up about a half hour before the doors open for the performance and there’s a chance that someone has a last minute change of plans.
New Year’s Eve …
