Santa Sightings in Paris

Now that so many chimneys in Paris have been blocked, Santa Claus or Pere Noel has to find new and inventive ways to make his way to the l’Arbre de Noel or Christmas tree where he can drop off his Christmas presents. As you can see, Santa is doing some trial runs to make sure that he can scale the walls of some of the hotels in Montparnasse. So don’t get too worried if you see a man with a white beard, …

Luxembourg Gardens

September and October are exceptional months to visit Paris’s Luxembourg Gardens. Leafy green corners are the places you’re apt to find people practicing tai-chi, gathering for a game of ‘boules’, chess, or settling in for the afternoon with a good book.

The gardeners do their best to capture those last remaining glints of autumn sunlight by choosing flowers that harmonize the best with falls’ golden glow.

Paris's Red Light District?

dsc04450.thumbnail.jpg
In Paris, unlike Amsterdam,, you’re not likely to see prostitutes waiting at their window for business. However, you might run into some unusual ‘decoys’. Have these decoys been propped up like duck decoys hoping to attract the real thing? Check out the window and you’ll see on second glance that this female decoy is armed.

Check out her window mates.

You’ll see Paris police on rollerblades and on bicycles. If you get lost and need assistance, don’t hesitate to ask a police agent for help. They are normally very helpful to tourists in normal circumstances.

Paris Inspired Visions- Holy Ghost Church

Parislogue readers will remember that the Holy Ghost Church is one of the top churches on my list for its Escheresque interior. Rare are the examples of between the war churches in Paris. Some may find its style austere - but there’s a straightforwardness and purity that, for me, resembles the clarity of Rome’s Pantheon, conceived in a totally different era.

Want to get a different perspective on Paris? Very simple.

Do you want to be a Super Hero?

What is it about Paris, this city that seems to breed super photographers like bunnies? I came across the work of photographer Stephanie Fraisse who decided to combine her love of photography and love of the culinary arts to create an amazing portfolio of some of France’s most famous chefs.
Here is one photo of Antoine Westermann that I like very much:

In addition to photos of chefs, her other specialty appears to be autoportraits which you can also check out on her site www.faistoitonportrait.com i.e. “Everyone wants to be a superhero.” I’m checking out …
