Chirac in Issy-les-Moulineaux

Chirac is visiting the cable TV headquarters for France 24 today in Issy-les-Moulineaux which is town located just outside Paris’s ‘peripherique’ in the south-western sector.
It is also the very last stop on the Metro line Mairie d’Issy. I’m not surprised that France 24 chose Issy-les-Moulineaux. This is a very cool neighborhood with a village atmosphere. Angelique, my Cambodian friend who moved here several years ago said that it reminded her of Phnom Penh. There’s an outdoor market which you can’t miss because it’s located on the town hall square directly outside the Metro exit. Issy’s mayor, Mayor Santini actively participates in town events, so much so that you’re likely to bump into him in person as we did during one such event which welcomed Chinese officials for Frances ‘Year of China’ (two summers ago). Also some trendy new restaurants have opened in the town that have attracted Parisians. If I were going to live outside of the Paris city limits, this is the town that I’d pick. It has the best of village life (you’ve got a real neighborhood) and Paris is a Metro stop away.
