The Cathedral of Notre Dame is one of Paris’ most famous attractions, and it just so happens to sit squarely on the island where the city was originally born. So historically speaking, it’s definitely one of the most important parts of Paris. But being an island – and a fancy little one, at that – there aren’t many budget accommodation options to be found on the Ile de la Cite itself.
There are a few hostels near Notre Dame, they’re within reasonable walking distance from the cathedral. Of course, with the fantastic Paris Metro at your disposal, you don’t have to walk if you’d prefer not to. Just be sure to do some serious strolling around the islands of Paris, which are ideal for that sort of thing.
